[:I]hi i have two ferrets and use collars, harness, and leashes when i take them outside and to the vet. [8D]also when they are home they wear their collars all the time because when they are outside their cage i know where they. ummm....cosmo my youngest who will be 4 months on thurs. fits into his collar, and pillsbury who will 9 months on dec 10 also [ ]fits into his. they didnt like them at first but they got used to them after awhile...now when i try to take them off when i give them baths they try to bite me[} ]...also plus on thier leashes they each have a id tag with information of address, phone number and my name, so if they ever get lost people know where to take them or call thier owners. [ferret]

Good job! Getting your ferrets used to a collar is really great for their safety!

This is the url of a picture of the champagne ferret I saw at the local pet store a few days ago. Gender is unknown(because I didn't check/ask). It stole a chunk of my heart, just somehow! I wanted to take it ome, but my parents wouldn't allow me to. It's sad. My intuition told me to do so, but, rrrr sometimes parents can get pretty annoying! lol

| I use harnesses when I take my guys out anywhere, but when they are in the house they are harness and collar free. I have heard of too many ferrets getting caught up on their collars and that little bell cannot be good ringing that close to their sensitive little ears. My 3 will come to a squeaky toy...okay well my 2 do but my deaf one comes when I knock on the floor or he sees the other 2 running....so I call them to me if I am not right down there playing with them just to check up on em.

I agree with rane 1020. I have seen fuzzies get cought on items in the house when the collar is on. If they were to get lost who is to say a peron wouldn't take off the collar and declare the baby as their own. There is a computer chip the vet can inject into your fuzzie, so if found, all rescues, vets, shelters, etc has to check for the chip. My vet said a man declared a dog as his own, my vet checked for a chip, found one, called the 1800# and found out the dog had been missing for a few months. The chip is around $50.
Proud owner of 6 fuzzies: Cozette, Cinnamon, Shadow, Memphis, Oscar, and Rose!
2 cats: Little Sh**, and Miss Priss!
And Hammy the hampster!
