| Right now Sam and I are living in Flagstaff, AZ so that I can attend Northern Arizona University. We moved here this past august from St. Louis, MO. The whole time we have been here its been a hell of a struggle to make ends meat. You see, Flagstaff's cost of living is actually higher then the average salary. It really sucks. We've barely managed to stay afloat these last few months so Sam and I are thinking about moving. I want to go to Colorado State University for vet school, right now I am just a freshman majoring in bio. But we were talking and now I am thinking of transfering to CSU in the fall. We looked at the cost of living in Fort Collins, CO (where CSU is located) and its MUCH lower then Flagstaff. The average salary is also higher too. PLUS it was named one of "the most livable cities" by some important magazine/person. We were planning on moving there in a few years anyway. I looked at CSU and if I went there I would be attending the undergraduate school of the graduate school I'd want to attend. CSU is the second best vet school in the country. So i know its gunna be hard to get into the grad school. While they say going to their undergraduate school wont help my chances of getting into the vet school, i do feel that going there will give me the oppoutunity to get to know the advisors, professors, etc for the vet school. Its only $2,000 more per year to attend CSU. The school size is about double that of my current school. I originally picked Northern Arizona University as my college because I wanted to major in business and the school has all these new nifty business programs. But now that I'm a Bio major I need a better Bio school. I like NAU alot but I need to think if its really the best place to study Bio at. I am going to be reseraching CSU some more over the next week and meeting with my advisor to discuss transfering (how to do it, which credits will/wont transfer, etc). The deadline to apply to CSU for the fall semester is July 1st, so I still have plenty of time to think this over. If we did move: 1. I would be in a better school for bio 2. We could actually afford to live in the town 3. We would be able to rent/buy a house that has more space then our current rented condo for almost $200 less per month! 4. We would be in a bigger town with more oppoutinities and better resteraunts! lol 5. We would be an hour away from my fav place in the country, Estes Park, CO. 6. I would be closer to my family in St. Louis 7. We'd finally be able to afford to buy a house! So lotsa good stuff. If we don't move, Sam and the animals will have to move out of flagstaff while I stay here to attend school. NOT GOOD. I'm really hoping this will work out! If it does, we will be moving in early august! I'm so excited! We'll see what happens. Stay tuned lol! Just wanted to share with you guys!

- Hey G,
- Sounds like you've been doing (and have much more) pondering lately. You seem pretty psyched about it, what about Sam? As far as homes are cocerned... condo, better than apt., house, better than condo!!! Especially when critters (great & small) are part of the equation. Man, you guys are gonna need a U-Haul just for THEM[:O]!!!
- Well, good luck with all of that. And by the way, how is Apollo doing lately with his bad habits?
Later, M & K

| Well, if you buy a house you wont have to worry about landlords being dumb about your pets. you could even go as far as making a ferret safe area of the yard so that your little ones can go outside to play in grass more often. AND if your yard is big enough youd have the room to let Apollo run out all that energy (which in the end would calm him down inside the house). good luck with the move!

| Hey guys. Yeah I'm really psyched. I'd love to have a yard for Apollo and a place to put a ferret playpen. I would take the pen and put a fourth of the way into the ground. That way if the fuzzies dig, they can't escape the pen, ya know? LOL, BusyIzzy, Sam and I would get a u-haul trailer to attach to the back of Sam's ford bronco. The animals would ride in the truck with us. I think we'd all fit just fine. Not looking forward to the cats non-stop meowing though! argh! We are renting a bedroom set at the moment and other then that the only furniture we have is our kitchen table. We didn't bring any furniture with us from MO when we moved to AZ. And we aren't gunna be bringing much furniture to CO. See what I mean? In the year we have been out here we haven't been able to afford to buy any furniture!!! We are that broke lol. Stupid Flagstaff economy!!! Sam is definitly down with the move. He wants to be able to actually make ends meat each month! The economy in Fort Collins, CO is sooo much better then flagstaff and the local rental properties and real estate for sale is waaayyyy cheaper then here in Flaggy. We are both pretty psyched. I talked to my rents about the move and they were very supportive. Only issue is that I get $5,000 a year from my current school. I also get $4,000 a year from the state of AZ. I would need to get some scholarship money from CSU and some money from the state of CO. I am hoping that my advisor can help me out to find some scholarships. I will be applying in approx 2 weeks or so. I need about 2 weeks to think about this, but I'm almost certain we are going![ ][ ][ ] I've ALWAYS wanted to live in CO and to be only an hour away from my favorite place in the country (Estes Park, CO and rocky mnt. nationtal park) would be AWESOME!!!!! Im kinda bummed that I wouldn't be near Morning Starr Animal Sanctuary anymore though. Thats where I got three of my six ferrets. And I've gotten to be really close with the owners, Al and Fran. But change is important and necessary to life. I'll keep ya guys posted. Both sam and I are SUPER excited

| Apollo is doing sooo much better. We had some difficulties in attempting to crate train him. He was urinating on himself while in the crate. Vet said there is nothing wrong with him. No UTI, he palpated his abdomen and he's got a normal bladder, no tumors on him or anything. Doc said he might be urinating on himself as a sign of submission because he was previously abused and is trying to show "look, look I get it, im crap, im a stupid worthless dog (like his old owners thought) im submissive I'll show you, really, just PLEASE don't hurt me!" (POOR BABY!!!) So instead of crate training we had to use a different method with Apollo. We put a little lavender oil on apollo's collar because its supposed to be soothing. We also bougth some DAP (dog appeasing pheramones) and put them in the bathroom hallway where apollo sleeps at night. In addition (i know this sounds nuts but I was desperate for ANY advice) we played classical music in the house when we were gone. While we were home Apollo would wear one of sam's dirty shirts (so that sam's scent would always be close by no matter where apollo went) Suprisingly all these things helped tremendously! During the night he is blocked into the hallway between the master bedroom and the master bathroom. He wakes us up at 5am each morning to go potty. He's FINALLY housebroken! hooray!!! As for his chewing he finally is chewing his bone, kong, and squeaky toys! We did have a slight issue when he chewed up my glasses though! Luckily Sam was able to fix them. He still doesn't know how to fetch though. He's doing great with his clicker training and learning how to sit, stay, lay down. He does GREAT off leash when we are hiking in the mountains, so that made me happy. He's finally adjusting, THANK GOD. We certainly had to go through some unusual methods with him but luckily he's housebroken, happy, and not chewing our house to shreds! Hooray!

| Monkeypooh sounds like a great idea.. When I was looking into going to vet school I checked CSU and it did seem like a great vet school... err.. super expensive though for a vet school.... Colorado is a GORGEOUS STATE.. to me at least... I really love this place and at one time we were thinking of moving there once we both graduated from school...It's heaven for outdoor freaks like hubby and I haha. Hmm.. taking your fuzzies for a walk to Great Sand Dunes.. wow.. that'll be an experience haha. (what am I talking about)... So wish you the best.. I'm sure you'll be happy in Colorado... [ ] Geez I'm almost jealous hahaha!
[ ]No ferrets? No fun![ ]

| yeah the vet school program is pretty expensive. luckily if we move then by the time it comes to apply to the vet school I will be a resident of colorado. It costs so much because it is the second rated vet school in the country. What really impressed me though was that their undergraduate school actually has a pre-vet program (unlike my current school) so I'm very excited about this. My biggest concearn is the $9,000 a year I am currently getting from my current school and the state of AZ. I am worried that alot of the grant/scholarship deadlines for CSU have already passed (march 1st). I've printed out an application and I have spring break coming up after this week so I think I'll be spending my spring break filling out my application and seeing how this is gunna work out. Hopefully I will find a way to get $9,000 a year from CSU/the state of colorado. We'll see what happens. That is really my biggest concearn.
