If Vinegar keeps your ferrets away than bravo, I have not heard that it was a deterrent in any way. I have used Vinegar and water as a odor reducer on the carpet and plastic in their cages. My kids seem to like the smell of it and paw at the area that i sprayed for some time. I would not Spay it direcetly on your ferrets it could get into thier eyes and burn them.

If i may ask what are you trying to stop your ferrets from doing? Ferrets are naturaly curious critters and will get into everything, so dont get to mad at them for digging and climbing.

If you spray the vinegar around the area of where you do not want them to use, it may last for a few days to about a week. It will also help stop some odor. But hopefully they will get the idea. Patience is the key.

remember that it is very rare to find a ferret that will use a box 100% of the time, you may need more than 1 litter box in their play area, just put a box in the area they seem to be using most. i have 11 litter boxes in 2 rooms of my house.

When you see your ferret backing up to poop on the floor say in a loud firm voice NO POOP then pick the ferret up and put it in the closest litter box. when your ferret does use the box reward it with some soft spoken words and petting, you could also give them a treat after they use it but make sure they do not do a fake poop just for a treat, ferrets are smart and will run into a box and pretend to poop just to get a treat.

if your ferret does miss the box pick up the poop and put it in the closet box and then show the ferret where the poop spot is, DO NOT ever rub your ferrets nose in it's poop this WILL NOT help the situation but only stress out your ferret and make the situation worse.
