Hey everyone,

Well I have a problem, one of my boys decided to get his hands on and eat part of a sponge like rubber ball on Sunday Night. He threw it back up once that night. He is still passing stool every now and then so he is no completely blocked, but he is not eating much at all. We are having to give him ferret lax quite forcefully as he will not take it himself. We have tried Duk Soup, Chicken baby food, Beef baby food, his kibble mushed up, treats, baby formula etc. But its a no go. We don't know what else to give him, to get him to eat. Like I said he is passing stool, although it is not quite solid. He is also drinking water. Right now I am considering taking him to the vet to get an X-ray done today however I would like to avoid surgery if possible because of pain and complications from that. I just wanted to know if anyone has any advice. He is still playing with his brothers for short times but has a glazed over look in his eyes. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.
Ashley

Hi Ashley,

A trip to the vet would be the best thing that you can do right now for your fuzzie.

Here is an article about blockage in Ferrets:

I hope that your pet is feeling better soon.

Update: I did take him to the vet the same day I posted the question. They didn't do an X-ray because they did not think the parts of the ball would show up. He was treated with fluids, medication, and laxatives, as well as a perscription cat food. He is doing much better now, eating and active. His eyes are bright again, although now he is putting up a fight against the medication, so I guess thats a sign he is getting better. Thanks so much for all your responses.

Ashley
