I wish I hadn't asked.. last night at work I was doing my own thing when I thought I heard the other nurses talking about "Ferret". I interrupted them and asked.. "did you say something about ferrets"? They said yes and I was hoping to hear that one of them had fuzzies (cause I know noone in CT who owns fuzzies..except for Usame who I've never met in person)..

INSTEAD.. what are they telling me????[:O] They told me that a nurse who either works on the floor I was working (not my regular floor) or used to work there... freaking SHOT HER KIDS' FERRET because he or she was either chasing the chickens or harmed them or something....I felt chills all over my body and felt so sick.... I pictured the whole scene OMG HOW CAN YOU SHOOT such a cute lovely critter Or simply an animal...in general....Poor animals what they go through because of us being the heartless monsters we are....

I couldn't help but imagine sort of being the poor fuzzy, playing with the chickens (whose fault was it to have the fuzzy interact with birds in the first place, she should freaking have known better)!!!!!! and all of the sudden being picked up and then....stop being....

I tried to get it off my mind completely but.. I can't.... this is horrible disgusting inhumane......gosh.. I hate ppl as a species......the only organism alive who kills for reasons other than survival or self-defense... YUCK!

someone shot a ferret for chasing chickens.....

first off- why if the ferret in the chicken coop where it can catch diseases and stuff?

2nd- you dont shoot the ferret... you calmly catch it, bring it in the house and explain to your obviously stupid kid that it doesnt belong out there where it can, or the chickens can, get hurt

3rd- isnt that animal abuse if its your pet and you harm it like that?

Tell me about it Nicole!!!!

THe poor thing had no business near the chickens or vice versa!!!

Then, even if the fuzzy killed a chicken this is his/her nature and it's 100% the humans' fault (adults or children) who allowed the interaction between natural enemies!!! NO REASON is good enough to shoot an animal to death.. You don't like it? You can't take care of it? It damaged something of yours? God forbid, I think I'll go out there and shoot everybody who bothers me!!!! I'd be the biggest serial killer if I could do that just because!!!

How can you as a mother kill your kid's pet??? I can't even imagine taking the pet away from the kid and saying a bunch of stupid excuses that little kids believe e.g if the pet dies and they tell the kids that it ran away or this or that.... How about KILLING... your kid's pet!!!! What do you say to your kid? "I killed your ferret because it chased/killed/ate a chicken"? Or you make up a story that it ran away or something?

God if only this nurse was someone I know, someone I work with ....I'd report her!!!

And of course it's abuse whether it's YOUR pet or someone else's pet or a wild animal that does not pose a threat to you...sigh.. it just broke my heart...I know things like that happen unfortunately and we don't always hear about it (unless of course you watch animal presinct all the time, which I don't because I can't take it I cry like a baby) but.. it reminds me how messed up some (many?) people are....

Up in Pennsylvania, out in the country, I have a friend who raises ferrets and, even he kept them in the house. If he ever took them out on the farm they were in his hands or out on a leash and this was about 25 years ago. It's where I got interested in ferrets to begin with.
[]The worst story I ever heard was when a couple was "partying", (not sure what type, but they had to be pretty wasted) and found that their ferrets had bitten their child which they left unattended. The guy broke the ferrets necks and brought them with him to the ER, when he took his baby to have them take care of the child. The ER doctor had a fit. One the guy left his child unattended while he partied and the child got bitten, two that he left the ferrets out unattended while he partied and they were hungry enough to bite at the baby, and three that he killed the ferrets. Whether the story is true or not. It came up in one of those Ferret stories. I'm not sure, but I guess the Doc was one of us!!!!
