Although this is a favorite time of year for many people, it can bring both joy and danger to your ferret friends. Understanding how to keep your ferret safe during the coldest time of the year makes the season joyful for all!

[size=4]We use the black pellets, ferret litter from Marshall's. That is the only kind I've tried. I have three ferrets and they make a big mess and I need something that they can't though all over. Does anybody know if unscented cat litter or sand would work.

And also, What good for controlling odor of the feces and urine in the litter box?
We clean they're litter box every other day as needed.

My cousin wants to get a skunk! I think its a smashing plan because they are super cute and i have heard good things! What i am wondering is what anyone on here can tell me about them, who has one, how are they to be housed, how long do they live, what do they eat, what are the rules on keeping them, vaccination requirements, vet requirments, and temperment? I would love to be able to tell her more than just what i think people do or what i read on a site that she has probably already read... anything anyone can share would be useful... she has never had any pet... accept for a fish one time... so this would be a big thing for her.

We hope you've been enjoying Camp Critter so far. Let's make the camp experience more complete by sharing thoughts and experiences about what's happened or going to happen.

How long did it take you to find Felicia the Lost Camper? Did you like how your critter ghost story turned out? Did you really like someone else's story? Did you make a video for the talent contest? Anything interesting happen during filming? Have you been spending more time with your pet? Any guesses on what the whittling item will become?

Picture yourself sitting on a bench by a campfire on a cool night beside the lazy BowTie River. The logs in the fire crackle from the heat and the sporadic glow of fireflies can be seen in the meadow at the edge of camp. Other campers are roasting marshmallows and shadows dance across their faces in the firelight. A story about camp comes to mind and you say ....

I've been bitten by a hamster, a guinea pig, and a rabbit. The hamster bite really hurt. The guinea pig hurt more than the rabbit did, but neither of those bites hurt very much. Which small animal bite hurts more? Does the hedgehog, ferret, sugar glider, chinchilla, rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, rat, mouse bite, etc., hurt most? I'm just curious about other people's opinions.

Zoey is a 3 year old female ferret. We adopted her from a wonderful shelter/rescue. She has been vet checked and had her shots. Very healthy! Since Monday, 5/4/09 she hasn't eaten like I think she should. She has not ever liked any treats. The shelter mom said she wasn't treated like a ferret should be treated, like not getting out of her cage, being brushed, cooked liver or scrambled eggs. She only wants her vitamins, hairball prevention, and dry kibble that came with her. Is there any hopes in getting her to eat treats?

She is sweet, uses her litter box, doesn't bite, lays quietly in your arms, and loves to ride in the car with us.

Oxford Ferret Rescue Family Fun Day

Oxford ferret rescue will be holding their 7th annual Family Fun Day on April 25th. It is a VERY fun event with auction, raffle, photo contest, fun questions, prizes, cake walks, and more!!!! Even if you can't attend you can join in the fun!!!!

Please help us support the rescue, and come have a day filled with fun. We are at the Cecil County Fairgrounds in Fair Hill, Md. If you are not able to attend the event, please send me a PM for details on how to participate. The rescue needs us all the help to make this event a success! The outstanding vet bill is big and there are several surgeries coming up. Including my foster baby Pumpkin. Claudia saved him when him and his sister, Flower (RIP) came in with their collars embedded in their necks after they grew and the collars were never checked. Without Claudia's intervention this kids would have never made it to know the real meaning of family and love. This is just one of the amazing stories from Oxford Ferret Rescue.

There are going to be TONS of excellent speakers. Everyone from Susan Brown DVM to Bob Church. It should be TONS of fun and an information packed weekend. A great oppourtunity to meet all types of ferret owners: shelter operators, breeders, judges, vets, etc.

If anyone IS able to make it you better tell me about it! I HAVE noticed that many of our members seem to be primarily on the east coast (with ghosthoud in IL and JosiesMom in FL and of course TheSlappy and I in AZ) so I doubt any of us will be able to go, but if you can go tell us all about it!!!

I am ordering a hoodie though. They have a really cute design and they are only about $30 each. See below:
