I got both my guinea pigs from work. Mocha, my little runt, got dumped/abandoned at my workplace. She was so cute and small that I immediately took her home.

Cocoa, my big girl, was also abandoned at my workplace, except she came with a friend. The woman who dropped them off didn't want them because her sons (aged 3 and 4) had no interest in them (note: guinea pigs are not meant for very young children; aged 8-9 would be more ideal, though older would be better). We (my co-workers and I) managed to find a home for Cocoa's friend, but the mother and son who took her in couldn't take Cocoa as well because they already had two cavies at home and four would be too much for them. Also, they already had a very dominant female cavy at home and thought that she wouldn't get along with Cocoa (who is quite dominant herself) whereas Cocoa's friend was submissive and would probably get along with her.

Seeing as I only had Mocha, and I was considering getting her a companion anyway, I took Cocoa home to see if she and Mocha would get along. While their initial introduction was a bit rough, in that Cocoa kept picking on Mocha, the two eventually got along.

The most common to get them are at pet stores. I got both of mine at Petco. There are other places like PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus. Hope this helped!

I got Chitchat from outside!!!!!!! Our neighbors found a guinea pig in their yard. But it was not their's!!!!!! They asked everybody that lived near us if it was their guinea pig but nobody said it was. So the neighbors asked us if i wanted it and i said yes

I got my five ferrets at all different places.

Pandora: I got her at a Pet Supermarket. I got her when she was three months old and I just kinda jumped right into getting her without knowing anything about ferrets, but I quickly learned.[:
Charlie: I got at a Petland in Atlanta, GA. Someone brought him back saying that they hated him and didn't want him anymore, when I will never understand why because he was just a normal ferret, nothing wrong with him, no nipping problems, nothing...
Ghost: I got her at a local petstore called Fish Palace and she was extremely shy because they got her from a "reptile show" and she never knew who to really open up to because everyone she did open up to, they turned and walked away. But she's in loving care now and very open.
Jasper: We got him at a pet store as well, and it's not local, but not a chain either, it's called Critter's Pet Shop. We got him when he was a baby, and he was a daredeviil ever since he got home. He still is, but 10x the size he was when he was brought home.
Lyra: We got her at a Pet Supermarket as well. She is shy and will run away if she's not comfortable with sounds or how you walk up to her. She enjoys biting toes and she loves to give me kisses. I'm hoping that she will open up to me and not run away so much soon.[:

I got Ollie from a rabbit breeder. But the breeder was going to kill Ollie and I saved him!!

I got my hammy from petco and have had some rescue ones from there to. They often have small animals people have brought in that need good homes if you were wanting to adopt.

I got my guinea pigs at the old mill farm store,near where I live, I also got 3 of my four hamsters there, the one hamster that I didn't get there, I got at petsmart. I also got my three rabbits at the old mill farm store, I got my dogs from the pound, and I got my horse from a friend

You should have gotten a hedgehog from the pet store you would have made it probley feel a lot happier!

I have adopted all of my animals, from my cats and dogs all the way down to my gerbil and rabbit from my local animal shelter.

I got my 2 rats off of Craigslist. The best place to get a critter though is a rescue center, because they give the animal a veterinary exam and really want them to have a good home.

A ferret kit nipped a little girl at one of their stores and they got all worried about lawsuits. Too bad. 2 of my 6 came from a Petsmart before they shut down their ferret dept.

I am down to 6 ferrets, having lost Hurricane Sally a short time ago, to old age. Two of the remaining crowd were purchased from Petsmart and the other four were rescues from various poor situations (one owner was headed to jail).

I got my first ferret in 1958 when I was in college. Saw him in a pet shop in Oklahoma City and fell in love. He lived to be 12 years old!! When I got him NO one knew much about them. He ate cat kibbles and boiled chicken because you couldn't find ferret food anywhere. I've had many little guys over the years, including one American Black-footed ferret with 3 legs. He got caught in a rat trap when he was a kit and lost his left front leg. He was noticeably larger than a domestic ferret but had the same personality. His favorite passtime was going to the dump and hunting rats. Unfortunately he caught a rattlesnake on his last foray.

The ones now living with me now are: Large Cletus, big albino, (4 lbs.), Trini, little sable girl, Maynard, big sable boy, Moonbeam (Macswine), sable girl, Baby Doe, short and fat, the alpha ferret and Little Britches, albino, former fear biter, the youngest and no longer a fear biter.

So I'm not getting that second rabbit in December. Because I started horse riding lessons. I don't see why my mom thinks I can't get another rabbit just because of riding lessons and no I'm not going to quit horse riding.

No, Petco and Petsmart do not sell hedgehogs. Petland sells hedgehogs sometimes. That's the only pet shop I know that sells hedgehogs. Most of the time when I'm at a pet shop and ask the employee if they sell hedgehogs they look at me like I'm crazy.

I got Bun Bun from a pet shop called Pet Super Market. I'll always remember that first night when I got Bun Bun, when my mom asked me if I wanted a different rabbit because Bun Bun growled when I held her.

There aren't any ferrets at the Pet Smart where I live, but there are at the local Petco. Is that general policy, or do other Pet Smarts sell ferrets? I haven't seen any hedgehogs at either Pet Smart or Petco, and I visit them regularly. Do any Pet Smart or Petco stores sell hedgehogs?

I got my baby hedgehog from a local breeder. The hedgies from the pet stores looked so sad and miserable.

I got my baby girl at Atwoods -kinda like Tractor Supply. My bf and i had looked all over town to find a bunny and the ones at a local pet store were too expensive (now the price has gone down and I'm tempted to get her a brother/sister. Would have gotten her at petco or petsmart but they stopped selling bunnies. Would have gotten a rescue but there aren't any shelters nearby

I GOT MINE @ PETCO. YOU SHOULD GET THEM FROM A PETSTORE, A FRIEND OR WITH CAUSHON A SHELTER OR POUND. NEVER BUY ANY ANIMAL FROM THE INTERNET OR WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE THE UNTILL YOU BUY THE FERRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got Lilah at Petco. She was a return because she was going blind, so I 'rescued' her Also, my lil' brother got Pebbles from Petco.

I got Onyx free from my cousins friend, because his owner had troubles letting him out of his cage everyday because she has to take care of horses and tons of chinchillas! She gave him to me so he can have home where he is free to roam around.

I got my rabbit from 4-H my brother won him but i am now in charge of him
you can also go on the internet and find some breeders or go to the shelter and they might have a fuzzy freind you can rescue

....this is sad. my best friend died last friday and i basically inherited Sammy a guinea pig whom i had helped hand raise a year ago, and Teddy a chinchilla who i had fully hand raised 3 years ago. iv known bolth of them there whole lives and iv always loved them tonns, but it was a terrible bitter sweet incident that left me in tears.

I got my rats at PJ's Pets, which is an amazing chain that has everything from scorpions to parrots to chinchillas in their larger stores. They also have quite a few pet products, but for supplies I like to go to Petsmart, which seems to focus more on pet supplies and a little less on getting exotic animals.
