Its not always caused by wire mesh cages but from stress. I think that your rabbit is stressed out from being fixed and just needs more attention and for you to make your rabbits cage 100% comfortable

Jo

RE: Please Help!

I am sorry this has nothing to do with your post but I have a question.

How much did it cost to get your rabbit spayed? we are looking to get Thummper neutered. Have you noticed any personality changes.... either for the good or bad?

      sorry.... but thanks!

RE: Please Help!

My bunny has a solid floor throughout his entire cage. He also has carefresh as his bedding. The "wound" is on the top of his foot not the bottom. It's not swollen at all but it's just hard like a callous. I checked it again and it's actually hard around the red spot as well. He just recently got fixed. (last friday) is there anyway that this could be stemming from that? I just don't know what to think. my regular vet has fixed lots of rabbits and that's why we took Ink there but he's really not fluent in their ailments. There isn't even a vet around me that I could go see for rabbits. He's acting normal in everyway and when i touch the spot it doesn't phase him a bit. His heart rate doesn't even race. I'm just at a loss and don't want this to turn into something serious (if it isn't that way already) I'm just scared and don't know where to turn to! : (

RE: Please Help!

Hi Lia,

What kind of flooring is in your bunny's home? If it's grating than your rabbit is more prone to develop a foot ailment or sore hocks.

By the mention of the area being red would you say that the area swollen? If so I would definitely bring your rabbit in to a vet.
Please Help!

I went to take my bunny, Ink, out of his cage this morning for a little exercise and I noticed that he had a weird spot on the top of his back foot! The spot is hard like a callous (sorry don't know how to spell it) and I can tell it's a tiny bit red. Most of the hair is still there and it doesn't look like he's been chewing on it. Also when I touch it and move the fur around to get a better look he shows absolutely no signs of pain. Is this a common problem or something worse? Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

                                         Lia
