If you clean the tubes with water make sure you dry them very good this could be the problem.When there is moisture in a warm or small enclosed space it can produce mold or mildew,therefore it could cause respritory troubles and disease if your hamster crawls through them.I would watch your new hammy very carefully for a few weeks and see how it's doing.You could also ask a petstore employee what you could do to help with the problem.Also,after you bleach a cage or habitat let it sit for a while before putting your critter in it,bleach fumes are strong and could hurt their lungs if they breathe it in.Hope this helps.

I'm sorry for the loss of your pet. It is always hard to lose them. Try to stay busy and talk to friends if you are grieving. I know I always use this advice, but it's worked for me.

I haven't owned a hamster yet, so I'm not very familiar with the care of them. Most of my knowledge is about guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets. If you have any issues, the administrator might have some suggestions for you.

Alright since ive seen your reply, dissembled and bleached everything in the cage, and i now have my new baby Siberian dwarf hamster (couple weeks old, around 3 inches long) in a 5 gallon glass fish tank with mesh lid, no tubes attached, a wheel, a water bottle, and food. I'm changing the water every day (as one should) and just enough bedding to give him extra to make a sleeping pile for himself. I got him for free since he was the smallest and was getting picked on. However, he isn't unhealthy or "runt-ish" by any means. Since he's a baby, I didn't want to take chances- I'll draw a picture of the old setup and post it though, sound good?

I need a picture of your hamster habitat so that I can better understand what may be happening to your hamsters. How much time was there between the time that your first hamster died and the time that you got your second one?

So this is the second time I've had this happen to my hamster- I'm going to assume it's from the same issue since both died the same way: They both had a bloody nose and were curled up like a dead hamster usually is, exept this time mine looked like he was sleeping, so I nudged him and he just fell over and twitched. Then later he was completely unconscious and what not. Anyone know what this means? I have the feeling it may have somthing to do with my CritterTrail Burrowing Habitat that I have connected to the cage by tubing. I'm positive that a human or cat did not harm him, as I keep both cats and small humans locked away from the cage (ahahaha...) What keeps happening to my babies?
