Out of all them I like the rabbit and dog best. The other animals need a lot more complicated care than I thought before getting them and as a result, most ended up dead. One hermit crab somehow managed to crawl into the furnace! I still am not sure how...

RE: Multiple types of pets

I haven't had a lot of pets... I've had some common goldfish, two betas, a gold fantail (all dead :<), and I have a Syrian hamster right now. But I think I will get a rabbit soon. But I think I liked the hamster the most so far. I got to play with the hamster more than the fish, you see. But I might like the rabbit more (when I get her!) !!!

RE: Multiple types of pets

I used to have 2 mice, an albino one and a gray one. They were terrific pets. Within one week of adopting them, I had to separate them into their own cages. But they each were very sweet and had their own personalities. The gray one loved to sit in my hand and be petted. He was very calm. The white one was sort of okay with being picked up in the beginning but as he got older he didn't like it as much. He was the wild boy. He was also a biter, but still a sweetheart. They each could do no wrong in my eyes!
Now that they are gone, I have a Campbell's dwarf hamster. She is also a terrific pet. She is a bit different in that she sleeps a looooot more than the mice did. She will wake up for very short periods in the day or evening and I'll notice her treats have been nibbled, so I've missed her moving about, she's already gone back to sleep. She is also very fond of coming out of her cage to climb in my hands, nibble on my shirt, or to play in her playpen on the floor. Once in a while she's not interested in being out and will end up laying down, or hiding inside a toy. At that point she's reluctant to be picked up, but I figure I ought to let her go back in her cage to relax in peace.

I don't think either pet is any better than the other. I love them equally and would enjoy having mice again in the future, as well as hammies. Now if only I could convince my boyfriend that we should have more!!!

RE: Multiple types of pets

i use to have a dwaf hamster. i miss her...

Multiple types of pets

Have you owned several types of small animal pets?
