And I use a baby shampoo just in case if it gets in her little eyes. And since their body temperature is sensitive to cold .. you need to try and get him/her used to the sound of a blow dryer that way you can make sure he or she's completely dry before placing her back in the cage.

RE: need some help here

Yes you can give guinea pigs a bath. I use baby shampoo on Snickers & Bubba. I also make sure that the bathroom & the water is really warm so they don't get cold. Its funny to watch them try to jump out of the bathtub.

RE: need some help here

Yes, you can definitely give your guinea pig a bath. You can use (if there is such thing) special guinea pig soap, or use mild kitten soap. NEVER submerge the guinea pig fully underwater. You can drown it.

RE: need some help here

i have bathed guinea pigs rarely. just really one. misty. she has long back/butt hair for some reason...anyway, i use an oatmeal kitten shampoo. and i keep the water up to their knees and use a small cup to wet their back. basically just remember not to wash their eyes, ears, mouth, nose, etc. i bathe them in the sink. oh and i dry them in a towel and then keep mine in my lap near a space heater to ensure they stay warm until dry. if you don't have the time for that, you can use a blow dryer about a foot away on the lowest setting to dry them.

i also give sakura weekly or twice weekly swimming therapy and though she hated it, she likes it now. she swims around in plain water or water with epsom salt for her foot sores. so even if they're scared, eventually they can be more tolerant of it.

RE: need some help here

I'm pretty sure you can bathe guinea pigs. I've never done it, but my book on guinea pig care says to use mild shampoo made for cats and not to submerge the guinea pig completely in water. And of course dry the guinea pig COMPLETELY before putting her back in her cage! Hope this helps.

need some help here

This sounds dumb, but can you give a guinea pig a bath? If so, what do you use[what kind of soap, shampoo]? Will it hurt her to use a shallow bowl or should I wipe her off. I know this sounds so dumb.
