I have so many to choose from! My top 5 best small pets are:
5.My old mouse (when I was 4) because she wasn't scared of being near anyone and was very social,
4.My baby rabbits Nala and Simba (when I was 3) because they were so cute and calm, 3.My 6 year old kitten Marley because she is sweet and playful
2.My late gerbil Patch because he loved to be stroked and cuddled
1. My babies Ivy and Olivia,my pet gerbils, because they are super cuddly, playful and so
CUTE!

Gerbils are definitely my number one!

I have owned hamsters, mice, and rabbits. I have also fostered rats and guinea pigs.

Out of all of them, gerbils have been the nicest, most hardy, least smelly, and most entertaining small animal that I have had.

I've had hamsters, guinea pigs, and gerbils.

My guinea pigs were very timid, and a lot of work to clean up after. I had wanted a friend that would like to cuddle and play and be adventurous, which guinea pigs aren't. I think if I hadn't gone into the endeavor with false expectations it would have gone better.

Later I got a hamster! He was much friendlier and adventurous, and did more. He cuddled, which was great! And cleaning out the cage wasn't so bad... it was small enough that I could carry the bottom part out to the trashcan on the curb and then soak it in the bathtub while the hamster rolled around in a ball.

When the hamster died I went to the animal shelter to get another one and ended up going home with a three-legged gerbil. She was supposed to be a pet for the family, but because of her history of abuse she has been hard to get accustomed to humans again. She ended up only taking to me. Now that she has gotten a little friendlier she cuddles about as much as any gerbil will, but she's still not a family pet. I'm the only one that works with her.

So I'd have to say that hamsters have been the best for my family as a whole, but a gerbil is my personal choice.

I sum it up like this:
Guinea pigs sit there and run away when you get close
Hamsters sit there but are friendly
Gerbils just don't sit

I think my favorite furry friends are my gerbils Cocoa and Daisy becasue they are so sweet for me and I always knew there were my friends.
