I've never given any melon to my guinea pig except for seedless watermelon and canteloupe. I only gave him very small pieces due to the high sugar content. I do not give my guinea pig fruit every day.

| Hi there, On the melon and cantalope(Spelling) I give my piggy the rinds, with the red cut out of it.Because the meat inside of the melons,I be scared it will give him gas. When I eat melons I belche a lot. And to the one on the loss of her piggy> I understand your feeling and your loss.I lost one this year, name Missy. She passed in the Vet office, when I was paying the bill and getting ready to leave. After getting a shot of antibodic.
Hi everyone.

| I prefer to give my guinea pig blue berries instead of melons. The blue berries are small so that he doesn't get too much sugar. I want to add that I also like giving my guinea pig bell pepper, because it is a good source of Vitamin C. I only give it in small pieces, however, because it causes gas. My guinea pig, Ginger, died last year of upper respiratory infection. I've had my current guinea pig, Henry, for over a year, and he's doing great. So far he hasn't had any problems.

I'm getting my 1st guinea pig tomorrow and I have read list after list of foods safe and unsafe for guinea pigs and melons are good in small quanities are ok,but veggies are better than fruits. So,feed your piggie a little bit of lettuce(avoid iceberg lettce because of the high water content) or some parsley would be good
Whoever said money couldn't buy happiness, has never been in a pet store!
