Hi everyone. Need some advice...My ferret Squishy is 5 years old and he has been dealing with adrenal disease for alittle over two years now. He was on monthly Lupron injections for 2 years and after 2 years he started losing alot of hair on his tail and constantly licking which my vet said is a symptom of overactive adrenal hormones so we switched to the suprelorin implant which he has had for about 3 months now and he doesnt seem to be responding to it because he keeps losing hair and is still constantly licking me SO I want to know what should be my next move? My vet said that the best thing thing to do is check his adrenal panel to see which levels are elevated etc and then possibly do Lupron boosters. BUT I have already spent thousands in the last couple of months because he had to go to an emergency vet because of a heart prob and he stayed overnight, xrays, oxygen cage, intravenous catheter, injections etc all was very expensive so I really cant afford another adrenal panel for $350. Anyone who has experience with ferrets and adrenal disease please help me make a decision. I have read some articles that say ferrets usually only last about 2 years with adrenal without surgery but others say it depends they can last longer. My concern is that he will no longer respond to either lupron or the implant. My regular vet mentioned adding a melatonin implant in addition to the suprelorin implant but the ER vet I went to believes it will be useless so I don't know.

The Ferret's moderator may be able to offer some suggestions.
