Hey guys,
I've got a question about litter boxes with ferrets. I currently have 2 girls, an older one and a younger one, and I am looking at adopting 2 boys, but I want to get this issue resolved before I adopt them.
As I said I have two girls, one older, one younger. The older ferret Podo, has always been exceedingly good about using the litter box and not ever making a mess. Kali, my youngest is a ball of fire and she is not so good about using the box. She is a digger, so she will make a mess with the pellets/litter what have you, then go poop in the opposite corner. Some of this seems to be rubbing off on my older ferret. I have a two level Ferret Nation cage (best cage ever btw) and the top floor has bedding all over it, the bottom floor is food/litter pan/etc. They do not make a mess on the bedding floor, just on the bottom. I have worked and worked with my younger one, and she was doing better....but it's like she throws temper tantrums and poops all over the place to get attention. I spend a great deal of time with them every single day. They are out of their cage for an extended period of time and get a great deal of attention from me.
Maybe do I need a bigger pan? More than one pan? Different kind of litter? It's not that the poop is stinky or not easy to clean up....because it is...I just wish she would behave as much as I have worked with her. I feel like she is just being a diva and throwing fits because she can.
Any suggestions?

If your cage is the kind that you can block off each level, make a level for each ferret and then when she calms a little bit put them back together, but make sure they still have playtime together so you wont have to reintroduce them to eachotherhope this helps

Whoever said money couldn't buy happiness, has never been in a pet store!
