I rescued Dorothy in Nov. 2011. She had been in an abusive home but they finally surrendered her to a local animal shelter. She is missing a leg, but no one knows what happened to it. She gets along pretty well without it, but it is slightly more difficult for her to dig or climb, and she doesn't use a wheel.
She is kept alone because we felt that with her disability and age, introducing a new younger gerbil might be more trouble than it was worth. She is socialized daily by me though!
She is learning to trust humans again. She is beginning to quit her habit of biting me, but if she meets someone she's not familiar with she is still quick to nip. She is spoiled rotten and knows it!

She sounds so cute!!! My hamster Lillian was missing a toe on her left foot because she was in a fight at the petstore.
Whoever said money couldn't buy happiness, has never been in a pet store!
