Rolo was my family's first hamster. For several months we kept him upstairs, but one day we decided to move him downstairs so he'd get more attention. That night one of our cats smashed in his plastic tubes connecting his two cages and let him out, then caught him and left him in their food bowl. Losing him wouldn't have been so bad if he went peacefully in his cage, but this was so sudden and kinda violent...
Our new gerbil is kept far away from where the cats can get to her.

I AM SO SORRY! Losing a pet is horrible, especially when you thin you've done the right thing. I am glad you have a new pet. Don't stay mad at your cat though, it was only doing what came naturaly. I wish I could help more.
