My gerbil Dorothy Bubbles lost a leg (not sure how) but I have lots of questions that maybe can be answered?

1) How could it have happened? She has a functional shoulder blade and appears to have some bone of her upper leg still in place.

2) Does it have anything to do with why she doesn't use her wheel?

what kind of wheel do you have?

It is very common for gerbils to break their legs and tails in wheels.

I would take the wheel out so nothing else happens

Yeah you should problaby remove the wheel before she has anything else happen.
