I'm going to breed my black 1 year old gerbil Ivy with a gerbil from Kilmarnock Pet Shop.
But I'm worried about Ivy's sister Olivia. She bites a LOT, so I'm not so sure she'd make a very nice aunt and she might harm the pups. Please help!
I have 5 bunnies now! Lola had 3 beautiful lion lops!

I don't think you should breed them. Since the sister has a bad attitude, it is likely genetic and the babies might inherit it. Since they are pet store gerbils, breeding does not make much sense. They are probably very nice and pretty, but there are so many small animals that breeding more isn't fair. I am against breeding pet quality animals. It is a horrible and traumatic experience for the mother, and it can kill her. Not a good idea. Also, if everything goes well you may have ten little gerbils with no homes. I hoe you understand that what I'm saying is for your gerbil's sake, especially the mother. If you love her you would never put her through such suffering.

Boo10 (2/5/2012) I'm going to breed my black 1 year old gerbil Ivy with a gerbil from Kilmarnock Pet Shop. But I'm worried about Ivy's sister Olivia. It's probably going to cost more than it's worth.

Actually, my teacher wants a couple and so do Katie and Regan. If you asked a few girls at my school, you would find a home for at least 15 baby gerbils.

It's ultimately up to you whether or not you want to do this. Take time to consider your decision, because once it's done you can't go back.

I'm sorry, but breeding is DISGUSTING. If you love your gerbil, you WON'T put her trough torture. Also, if any gerbil has showed aggression then the pups will probably have it, even if the other gerbil has cleaned up her act. It is the wrong choice. If you do it anyways it will be the biggest mistake of your life. If your female dies, you can't just bring her back. I think breeding animals is wrong. I always will think this. My friend bred her hamsters. The female AND her babies all died. Don't risk it.
