I am just passing on this info from another forum. They are looking for any help they can get, including donations.

In brief, McKay is very elderly and sick. Supposedly his family is running the show right now. McKay asked for help from MFRAN a while back with placing some of his ferrets. Problem is, it seems, is that McKay still wants money for his animals, rather than turning them over to a rescue or shelter. In spite of the problems though...McKay continues to allow his ferrets to breed out of control. There have been many complaints made to various state agencies trying to get McKay shut down, apparently he is not in violation of any Ohio state laws. Pity really.

This has turned into another classic case of animal rights versus animal welfare and the arguments are going on hot and heavy. Unfortunately, that won't help the animals there. And the McKay family is now threatening to sue people who get involved in any defamation against them...so please be careful what you say and who you say it to when it comes to the McKay ferrets.

I'm really not understanding why they aren't surrendering the ferrets.

That is something i don't think ANYONE understands. Several shelters have offered to take ferrets off the families hands but they insist on charging money for the ferrets. how very very sad.

theyre more worried about them selves and their money than the lives of the ferrets... if the place is so run down and those poor things are in a bit of a health hazzard, cant the state take them?

Apparently people have tried and they aren't in violation of any Ohio laws!!!! Can you believe that????? People both in state and out of state have complained and the state has done NOTHING.

This really does suck. I seriously don't like how people can be so irresponsible.
