Dang I wish I could go SOOO bad. But the cost is pretty steep ($185 for 3 day pass) and that doesn't even include the cost of transportation.

Just thought I'd post the link here so that anyone that is able to go can go.

http://www.ferretcongress.org/

There are going to be TONS of excellent speakers. Everyone from Susan Brown DVM to Bob Church. It should be TONS of fun and an information packed weekend. A great oppourtunity to meet all types of ferret owners: shelter operators, breeders, judges, vets, etc.

If anyone IS able to make it you better tell me about it! I HAVE noticed that many of our members seem to be primarily on the east coast (with ghosthoud in IL and JosiesMom in FL and of course TheSlappy and I in AZ) so I doubt any of us will be able to go, but if you can go tell us all about it!!!

I am ordering a hoodie though. They have a really cute design and they are only about $30 each. See below:

My Uncle lives in Portland. So is this thing $185 just for hotel fees or stuff? Or is that JUST to get in? Cuz if it's for hotels....we could stay at my Uncle's house.

The $185 is the fee to GET IN. BUT it includes breakfast, lunch, and possibly dinner on all three days. The cost IS pretty steep, but you can pay to attend for one day only (saturday?) and its $90. If you are gunna go though I would reccomend going all three days. Its sure to be a GREAT symposium, wish I could go!

they seriously never hold anything close enough for me to go... And if it IS in NY state, its down in the city because obviously NYC is the only city in NY state..

If I had a car and the means to go, id sure as hell be there.

I was speaking with one of the Symposium directors and apparently this is the first time the symposium will be held on the west coast (usaully its on the east coast). There is usually a symposium once every 18 months. I was told that they are considering AZ/NM for their next one but they won't know for sure until 9-6 months before the symposium.

If you can go to THIS symposium it is sure to be a real treat. There are vet speakers as well as non-vet speakers. Ferret medical, health, food, enrichment, etc topics are covered. You get to meet tons of cool people. I know where I live there aren't many ferret owners (that I'm aware of) so a chance to meet fellow "Ferrents" from all over the country is sure to be fun!

Well doubt I'll be attending. Maybe next year. By then, I'll barely have my ferrets for a few days or weeks depending when in June and I wouldn't want to leave the babies for a few days so soon.
