| My new baby Rayn doesn't seem to care for anything other than kibble. Ive tried all sorts of commercial ferret treats, homemade treats, ferrevite, ferretone, fruits, veggies, meats... I just cant seem to find something to treat her with. I use treats for praise (ex. coming to name, litter training, etc.) and it makes it hard when I have nothing to reward her with. Ideas? Also, I'm beginning to wonder if she has ECE from the petstore. Her poop is green and runny, often almost tan in color. Its also slightly white and granular at times, which Ive read can be fatty deposits. She eats kibble, drinks water, and plays normal. Should I be worried? No puking or other strangeness. Can this perhaps be why she doesnt like treats? If this is ECE, can pedialyte/water mixture help her or do I need to do more? Do ferrets drink the flavored stuff or am I best to stick with the unflavored? How do you store the extra (unflavored is only sold in Liter bottles here)?

| Okay, could be ECE, might not be. Can you handle seeing a ferret cut open? If so, look at the pic below. warning it is a bit graphic, so if you cant handle guts, dont look. It shows an EXCELLENT picture of the green poop in the bowel (towards the lower left part of the screen). If the poop looks like that, then youve got ECE: http://www.afip.org/ferrets/ECE/ECEgross.JPG Now, I ALWAYS give a ferret with irregular poopie pedialyte. Give unflavored because it has no sugar and artificial colors. As for what to do with the rest of it? Unfourtunately they say to toss leftovers after 72 hours. I normally fill the water bottle with 3/4 pedialyte and 1/4 water. I keep the rest in the fridge and offer it to my cats or dog just for the heck of it to give em an extra shot of electrolytes (especially in the summer) that way none goes to waste. As for the treats, shes got an upset tummy, thats most likely why she doesnt want to eat anything different. Try warmed chicken babyfood. That might appeal to her AND its bland and good for upset tummies. Just to be safe I would keep Rayn away from Slinky. I ALWAYS 'quarantine' any sick ferret into the 'sick cage'. You don't wanna risk having TWO sick ferrets, and because Rayn is so new, you wont have to worry about her or slinky becoming distressed over being seperated (bonding takes several weeks/months). Keep your vet's number on hand. If you notice lethargy be aware. When I got Lugnut from a petstore he had coccidia (caused by drinking water contaminated with feces). The vet put him on two different anti-biotics. Your little one could quite possibly have giardia or coccidia (these are common in petstores where sanitation isn't at its best). I'd moniter her poop but I would consider taking her to the vet. It doesn't sound like ECE, but rather like giardia or coccidia. Either way, you'd wanna get her to a vet. Hope this helps.
