My ferret hates bath despite the effort I make to get hime to enjoy it, but thats not the funny part. The aftertmath is hillarious he actually looks like he is trying to run away from his own wet fur, he jumps around acting like he can actually get away from the wet. I dry him off as much as I can before he goes crazy.

I am surprised he done so well with the CHristmas treee, his only obessesion is the kid's snow boots and stuffed animals. The boots weigh more than he does but he stil manages to drag them off, thank God I know all his hidding spots.

Hi Kujo and Piggy! Welcome to the community!! In response to your question: First of all, you should give a bath every four to six weeks, you don't want to dry their skin out, even less in the winter if you kive in a cold climate like we do. In between baths you can use a ferret deoderizing spray.  I use Ferret Deoderizing Spray and Conditioner bu Four Paws.  $3-4 and found at most pet stores. Some ferrets love baths and some hate them.  I've had three ferrets over the past eleven years and this spring the fourth joined my family.  So out of the four ferrets, two liked baths and the other two hated them.  Bathing a ferret that loves a bath is easy.  Put just enough warm water in the tub for them to swim but still be able to touch the bottom. If they like it they will swim and play with floaty toys you put in there.  If they don't like it they will panic.  If they panic, remove them immediately so that they don't hurt themselves. If they don't like baths you can always hold them under the faucet while wetting them down(avoid their heads),scrub them with shampoo and rinse them off.(make sure to get all the shampoo out) Never use human shampoo!! Always use shampoo for ferrets. I use Ferret Glow by Four Paws, about $4-5 and is found at most pet stores.  There are others to chose from too, what ever you like! My ferret, Brutus, hated baths but liked to take showers.  So I would bring him in the shower with me when he was due for his bath.  I could let him get wet and play with a ball while I showered.  I would sudz him up and then hold him up to the shower head to rinse him. You mentioned that one of your ferrets is rather hostile, how so? I will be happy to answer any questions you have about your new fuzzies and will try my best to give you advice on behavior, training, nutrition, etc.  Also, don't be afraid to start a new post topic.  Hope my info. helps!

I have a 50 -50 ratio split on baths. Some absolutely adores getting wet and snorkling to the bottom of the tub, while others can not stand to get their paws wet. So, what I do for bath time is use the kitchen sink, fill it with warm water and I use Marshalls shampoo that smells like cucumbers, rinse well, and let them run themselves dry the rest of the way. Some are like atomic rockets when wet and they will roll and play to try and dry their fur off. It looks funny when they try to puff their tails in surprise. But I normally give my babies a bath twice a year. Bathing too much can cause dry skin, and they will produce more skin oils that will have the musky smell to it.  Hope that helps

I have to baith mine more than that, it is weekly for him unfortunately. He likes to lay in his pee, darn pet stores didnt keep the cages clean and so that was all he knew. I can't remember the shampoo but the vet recomended it and doesnt dry his skin out. He fights me during the first half of the bath and remains in scruff positision until he calms down, then he just kind of sits there. poor guy had it bad but he is getting better, we can actually handle him now. couldn't ask for a better pet.

Monthly???  Wow!  We do yearly at our house; every year before they go to the vet.  If one of them gets into something they get an extra bath, but since it is my fault they got into it in the first place, I try extra hard to keep anything messy/dangerous away from them...

I've tried the spray stuff, and I've never seen a ferret who enjoyed it (not to say they aren't out there, just never crossed my path).  Tanuki hates baths, but he's so sweet that he tolerates them, he just goes completely stiff and lets me wash him.  As soon as the water drains, however, all bets are off, and he does his best to coat me in water as revenge.  The drying behavior you described is perfectly natural, and something you can take advantage of!  After the bath, dry your ferret off as well as you can with a towel, then throw another towel or two back in the tub and let your ferret dry itself!  Just make sure they're dry before they go back in the cage; litter is also very absorbent, and if it hasn't been changed yet, the ferret will undo all your hard work!
