Ben my longest ferret went peacefully to the rainbow bridge. Ben was only 4 years old. He was diagnosed with helicobacter on saturday 23 dec 07, and was given prescriptions that we had to wait until today to get due to the holidays. He fought hard with the disease and we were feeding and watering him every 4 hours. He passed in my arms. Ben is no longer in pain and is playing with Toby who passed in july. May God rest his soul

| Hi Fuzzy23, I am truely sorry to hear about your loss. I have lost two ferrets to cancer and one to old age. I now how hard it is. They become such great friends and members of the family. Just remember how much fun you and Ben had together. I'm sure he's at peace and having fun with his friend Toby. God rest his soul and all ferret souls that have passed before. Best wishes.

Thank you so much. I took Ben on his final ride in the car to the vet to have his spirit set free. And while talking with my husband, we are still trying to grasp the reality of the loss. We are thinking that as fast as Ben succumbed to the illness we figured it probably was cancer versus helicobacter. The vet stated Ben had a large lymphonoid in the tummy area, plus Ben could not walk on his back legs. So, for Ben's legacy any other ferret that becomes ill like Ben, we are going to have blood tests performed to check for cancer and maybe give them a fighting chance or at least keep them pain free.

It breaks my heart to read about the loss of a ferret. Although I have never owned one I know what beatiful animals they are. I wish I could help more.
