hey everyone.  my hamster bjorn died in early april from heart disease.  we had two and a half years together.  it's been several months but i still really miss him.  he was exceptionally calm-natured, and really seemed to enjoy being held and otherwise interacting.

my family has been really supportive- i'm in my mid-twenties but bjorn spent time with my siblings and parents when i traveled for work, etc.  small animals have been a part of our family since i was very little, and bjorn was beloved to all of us.  i even buried him at my parents' house, since i don't have a backyard of my own yet.  in fact, my brother suggested i post on the message board to connect with other people who know what i'm going through.  i've never done this before.

thanks for reading this.  i know that one day i'll be able to think of bjorn and just remember happy things, but i'm not there yet.  i'm glad to have the opportunity to share.

I'm sorry for the loss of your hamster Bjorn. It is helpful to reach out to others who can relate. Have you made a memorial page for Bjorn yet?

Hey Peachesstat, I can totally relate!

I think that we'll always miss our beloved little friends. There are a lot of great ways to pay tribute and remember them by. And as hard as it is, there are always other wonderful pets out there (not to replace our lost ones) but ones that we can share our lives with and give our love to when we are ready to bring home a new pet.

When I was ready, I went to a nearby shelter and found one of my pets, and I'm so glad that I did.

Thank you for sharing with us. Us critter lovers need to stick together!
