| Hello I have 4 little fur babies that range in age from almost 3yrs to almost 6mo old. I also have a cat that is just turned 1 today yea happy birthday Jack. Sorry back to the post. Ok We have never really introduced the cat with the Ferrets for fear that the cat might hurt one badly or terminally. Is there any way to get the cat accustomed to the fur balls in a way that might help keep them safe? The cat tries to play gently with them through the cage but sometimes when we just have one fur ball out and it starts dancing around all excited the cat gets that look in his eyes like he would when he is going to pounce something. I might add we have only had the cat for about 6mo. We adopted him from a shelter when he was still pretty young. HELP PLEASE

| I don't know. Its cats nature to hunt. Some cats are natural hunters and there is the cats that just want to be lazy. I had the lazy cat that could have cared less to hunt. Even when we had a mouse problem he would just lay there and not care. I had another cat that brought home a skunk. So I guess it depends on the cat.

Hi, we have two cats and two ferrets who've always interacted, and the best thing I can tell you is to observe them. Mine have never had any problems, though the cats do occasionally get "that look in their eyes", which usually precedes a quick play fest, usually with the cat chasing the ferrets. Once they get used to each other, you'll love seeing the way they interact. Our ferrets are 3, and they've just recently started grooming and licking our big "daddy" cat, and he loves it. The best thing to do, is make SURE your cat has a place to get away, either up somewhere the ferrets can't get to, or some other room. My cats have both (I have a lot of bookcases, so they'll go there in a pinch), either up on a ledge by the window or out of the ferrets designated play area (up and over the baby gate). I think that's about it. Both of my cats have their claws and I've (thankfully) never had any problems with them that got any more extreme than the cats just going away from the ferrets. Hope that helps!
Gotta go wrangle a Kuma (and a KiKi...and an Ares...and a Khaos)!

Hi I have 2 cats and 5 ferrets, they get along extremly well, trouble is a calico cat and will be 12 this sept and karma is gona be 8 this june. my 5 ferrets range from 10 months to 7 years. The only problem i encountered is when the ferret is a tiny kit, karma would stalk the babies , once the get bigger, she doesn't bother them, trouble gets along with all sizes of ferrets and once in awhile i'll find them all sleeping together on the bed. keep a eye on them tho, some cats for some reason are scared of ferrets, some will attack, it depends on the cat and personality. trouble i hand raised and she's a big gental baby, karma i've had since 4 weeks and she's a rescue and was abused, so i keep a close eye on her.

Introducing them young is always a bonus. My cat has been around our ferrets since he was just a few months old. Now he treats them almost like kittens. We recently had to introduce a new cat into the mix - One that was two or three years old and had never been around ferrets before.
If the cat's lived in the same house as them it's probably smelt the ferrets through the door, on you, etc. Just keep an eye on Jack and your fuzzies and if play gets too rough, step in and separate them. A lot of it really depends on the personalities involved. It took a couple weeks for our newest cat to get used to our weasels, but now she tolerates them as well as any good aloof cat.
Ferrets: Jaina, Arthas, Sylvanas and Uther
Cats: Spookybutt and Kennekitty.

| I have 4 ferrets and 1 cat. I brought the cat into the house when she was 4 months old. She took to the ferrets imediatly. Now she thinks she's a big ferret. She'll star at the cage until I let them out. She's chase them, tackle them, flip them, she never uses her nails and when she gets tired she jumps int he ferret cage currls up in the hamoc and goes to sleep. they love eachother!
