My 4 year old ferret is not well he hasn't been eating his hard Marshall food for a least a week. We have been spoon feeding him. He is dehydrated and has parcel poops. We took him to the vet and all the cared about was how much money we had available, since my ex messed up my credit I don't have credit cards, however we had $300 to work with at that moment. Long story short; does any one know of a vet that will work with you with payment plans if surgery is necessary!!These people said they would put him down for free but weren't will to even see if he had a blockage. They didn't even try to hydrate him and I had the money for that. PLEASE HELP I'M IN TOMS RIVER NJ AND WILL DRIVE FOR A REAL DOCTOR!!! Thanks.

| I just wanted to let you know I found a vet Forked River at the Forked River Animal Hospital. Great Doctor he use to be a ER Vet in Red Bank then started his own practice. He took some fluid, & blood out of his abdomen and is pretty sure it is heart failure, So now we have the hardest decision in the world to make. This vet was very understanding, not only an animal person but a people person. Down to earth and shots straight from the hip but is tactful too. I can either spend thousands of dollars to find out what is wrong exactly and still have no cure or just assume the worse and put him down. He isn't in pain but he isn't happy. The vet said it was our choice but if we decide to take him home and let nature take its course he would still supply us with some meds to make his time easier. We have to talk things over and tell the kids, I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN KICKED IN THE GUT!

We took him to the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Penn. to run tests. We had the best doctors in the business. This is the teaching hospital and we had wrote the dean for help. They contacted us and we went. However it turned out he had a very fast and rare cancer took him in weeks and was present in every organ. We naturally stopped his pain. Since he was so special, and so many vets know so little about ferrets; we donated his body in the university in order for them to research the cancer. His death was so senseless to us, we wanted it to have a purpose, to help other ferrets.

I'm so sorry about your loss, but thank you for the information!
Gotta go wrangle a Kuma (and a KiKi...and an Ares...and a Khaos)!
