I may be getting a gerbil soon, and would like to know if anyone had some tips on caring for them? I am first of all not sure how badly they need the company of other gerbils, and I also wonder if it's a bad idea to buy them at a pet shop. (how old are they anyways?)

Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you

My tip for you is to make sure that yu feed your gerbils every other day and clean the cage 1-2 times a month. It is a must-have to have 2 gerbils because if yu don't, they can get depressed and not live as long. Gebils enjoy eating apple slices and carrots. Don't get your gerbil wet, or it can get a fatal diesese, wet tail diesese.

best of luck,

In case you haven't seen it yet, here is the link to our Gerbil care page.

It has articles about all aspects of gerbil care from housing, interaction, diet, health and behavior.
