So I'm getting a pet mouse in a few hours. I went to the pet shop yesterday and bought another hermit crab (I named it Lava, because it has a brown shell and the crab is red with a purple pincher) and I walked by the mouse tank. There were 2 really cute mice in there. One was white with black spots, and the other was black with white patches. Well, the one that looked like an oreo cookie started chewing its tail, tried to walk and fell... so maybe that one wasn't the healthiest. The black one was sleeping, but he looked healthier than the other one. I named him Patches because of the color. I'm going to the pet shop to buy him in a few hours when my parents get home. What's really weird is that I already had almost all the supplies for a mouse without knowing it. A hiding place, bedding, timothy hay, some plastic and rubber baby toys from when my sister was a baby, an old 10-gallon tank. (my snake used to live in it until she escaped... ) And the only reason my parents are letting me get the mouse is because I said that I could do a science project about how a mouse would run through a maze faster if there was a strawberry at the end.

Congratulations on your new pet. You're only getting one though?

I got Patches yesterday! Yeah, I wanted to get two mice, but the tank would be way too small, and my mom says only one because she thinks I'll spend more time playing with the mouse to keep him happy so I won't be on the Internet so much. I was going to rename Patches because he has a weird marking on his eye that looks like a lunar eclipse, so I was going to call him Eclipse, but I was the only one that wanted to do that... Patches lives in a 10 gallon tank with a plastic hamster wheel (i know not to use the wire ones because their feet can get stuck in those), a small hollow wooden box, a water bottle, and a ceramic food bowl. The bedding is some kind of recycled paper bedding. Bleh the mouse food smells like puke. Patches is soooo cute, I would post a picture of him but he wouldn't stay still long enough to get a good picture. So I'll draw a picture of him and scan it to the computer and then I can post it. I've never tried to draw a mouse so it'll turn out really bad.

Patches trusts me already. When I got home from school today he was waiting at the end of the tank and stood on his back legs when he saw me coming to play with him, then he crawled into my hand. Bun Bun is jealous. She hid her face in her paws when I let her out to play around the house and she wouldn't look at me when I fed her a carrot. When Bun Bun saw Patches she chased him away... I have to take Patches out of the hamster ball now, he's been in there for a while running around. I hope he didn't open it and escape...

So I don't have Patches anymore... but I could catch a pet mouse if I wanted one. Or two. Or three. Ugh.

I put the pictures of him, but he would not stay still long enough to get a complete picture. So I'm going to draw a picture, his computer scanning it, then I can put it. I've never tried to, so it will draw a mouse to a really good.....
