| My hamster runs around like a wild nut as soon as I take her out of the cage, jumping and running. She won't sit still for a second. It seems like she is trying to reach 90 miles an hour! See, I get her in my hands, she jumps, and she runs all around the room at speeds I can't even describe for a hamster, and it takes me 15 minutes to catch her, and then she runs and jumps again. But when she's in my hands, I try to hold her still and talk to her and tell her everything's all right. What can I do to tame her?

Do you have a robo hammy?? then thats how they are. robos are very skitish and fast ( not so easy to handle) unlike syrian hamsters which can grow to about 8 inchs! are not very fast for easy to lose. also your hamster is probably not tamed so it makes handling even harder. my suggestion is to not force you hamster to being handled but let them set the pace. read some articles on taming your new hamster too! gooooood luck!

I would recommend laying a towel in the bath tube and allowing her to run around in there. You can then also practice picking her up with two hands (scooping). This will allow her to get used to being picked up. You can also sit in the bath tube and allow her to run and explore in you. This will get her used to your smell.
If she is a robo hamster, taming her is going to be hard. of all the hamsters these breeds have been domesticated the least. Some robos may become tame, but most stay skittish. Be calm and patient with her. DO not rush taming with robos.

I depends on what type of hamster you got and if it is tamed . If it is a dwarf hamster be careful they are really fast. Here are some tips you can do to tame a hamster :
1. be very quiet and take out the hamster
2. get a coffee mug put some bedding in it
3. just pet your hamster very softly
4. get an exersize ball so it can run but not for to long they can get deyhighgerated
5. take the hamster out cup your hands and quietly just pet it
6. just try holding the hamster everyday until it is used to you
hope i have been a great help
p.s. i have been though this
