Some gerbils are genetically prone to seizures, especially when they are bought from a pet store because the inbreeding that goes on with them causes genetic defects. On very rare occasions, when they are EXTREMELY happy and comfortable, gerbils will "purr" but it doesn't look like they are shaking.

Seizures are a common inherited condition of gerbils, and usually do not require treatment. Don't worry, because when an animal is having a seizure they can't feel it.

Good luck!

Hey thanks!!! I didn't think about it that way! I didn't get her from a pet store though.... I got her from my friends school, they have gerbils breeding there. It is very likely that inbreeding happens all the time. My mom [ I'm 12 and a half]   says that she thinks it is because she's happy, I tried something today, I was holding my gerbil [the one that shakes] and I waited until she was happy and I made a vibrating nosie and she vibrated as long as I made that noise! I don't know what to think, she isn't shaking, but then again she is! I think it's the purring you said! Thanks again for the advice! Sincerly, Angelicpepitas!

I do have more questions.... I hope you don't mind! My gerbils Diamond and oynx, [ Oynx is the one I asked you about earlier.]  LOVE sand baths! But it makes my room totally dusty! I was so bad I couldn't breath without coughing, I dusted my room but now they r smelly  cause they don't have dust to roll in! I'm sort of clueless. Have any advice???

Can't you bring them in another room for the dust baths and then bring them back after? Or you could do it outside maybe?
